HISTORY: Born April 7th, 1985 to Bill and Ellen Harville, Joanna Beth Harvelle grew up in The Roadhouse Saloon owned by her mother. This meant she was raised around hunters, including John Winchester and Bobby Singer, who her parents regarded like family.
When Jo was ten, her father died on a hunt. She was devastated, but decided that in order to be close to her father she wanted to be a hunter when she grew up too. But her mother’s fierce protectiveness prevented her from fulfilling her dream.
Then, in 2006 the Winchester boys showed up at the Roadhouse, where she pointed a shot gun at Dean, thinking he was an intruder. And even though he disarmed her, she punched him in the face and took her gun back. But, they soon became friends after Ellen realised that the brothers were John Winchester’s boys.
Shortly after this, she compiled research on a case in which six, young blonde women had disappeared from the same apartment building in Pennsylvania , over the last 80 years. She earned money playing poker with hunters to prepare for the trip. But, Ellen refused to let her go, and passed the hunt on to Sam and Dean.
But, Jo refused to be left out, and made her own way to Pennsylvania after laying a false paper trail to Vegas to try and trick her mother. Where, she bumped into the boys at the apartment building.
After another girl, Teresa Ellis is abducted by the ghost. It is Jo who eventually realised that the ghost had to be one of the prisoners that had been executed on the ground the apartment building was built on. Sam identifies the ghost as Henry H Holmes, America’s first Serial Killer, whose remains had been encased in concrete. They split up to try and find Teresa, but Jo gets separated from Dean, and abducted by Holmes.
Sam and Dean arrive and rescue her and Teresa, but they still needed to stop Holmes. Jo agrees to be used as bait, as it’s the only way to lure him out. They then surround him by salt, and sealed him into the chamber with cement.
A very angry Ellen then arrives to collect her daughter, having learnt that she’d lied to her. Once they get back to The Roadhouse, Ellen tells her that John Winchester had caused her father’s death on a hunt, by accidentally exposing them to the creature they were hunting. Hurt and confused, Jo confronts the boys with the information.
She later leaves to go hunting, in spite of her mother’s objections.
Jo is working in a bar in Duluth, Minnesota, when she is tracked down by what she thought was Sam. But, it was actually Meg possessing Sam. He’s uncomfortable with his presence, considering their last encounter. But, also because of the unusual shift in his personality. As he mocks her crush on Dean, and then tries to seduce her. He then overpowers her and knocks him out when she rejects him.
She wakes up tied to a post, whereby Meg taunted her about her father’s death. Saying that Ellen hadn’t told her the full truth, and that Bill had survived with horrific injuries. So, John had killed him to end his suffering.
Dean then showed up after tracing Meg via Sam’s phone, refuses to kill his brother to protect Jo. And instead reveals that Sam is possessed by a demon. Dean then unties her, and chases after the fleeing Meg. And, Jo then saves his life by bandaging his wound after Meg had shot him.
Then, remembering what Meg had said about her father, she asked Dean is demons sometimes told the truth as well as lies.
Jo watched Dean leave the bar, after promising to call her once he’d found and fixed Sam. She was worried about him. The demon possessing his brother obviously had no qualms about killing Dean, it had already left him to drown. If she hadn’t found him when she did, he’d have died. And that would have hurt. Yeah, she was still pissed about what their dad had done to hers. But, that didn’t mean she wanted them dead. And well, the demon at least had been right about one thing. She did have feelings for Dean.
Shaking her head, she turned to clean up the stuff she’d used to bandage up Dean’s shoulder. She really hoped Dean managed to save his brother.
Then, the next thing she knew, she was waking up outside. Her eyes opened quickly, wary. She didn’t remember going to sleep, let alone being outside. It was broad daylight, and she could see there was no one in her immediate vicinity. No immediate threats.
But, she pulled her gun anyway, as she stood up. Alert and ready, for whatever it was that had kidnapped her to attack.
Dean, are you here? Mom?
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing in Kansas?
